About DBT

As mentioned in my first post, I have had many years of treatment for what I always thought was Major Depressive Illness. While I believe I still have this I have formally been diagnosed as having Borderline Personality Disorder. For further reading about this disorder go to my heading 'About BPD'. For many years I believe I have not been getting the most accurate of treatments as I was not getting treatment for BPD. Since my diagnosis I have found Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which has been of benefit to me in the short time I have commenced it than the 22 other years I spent on all other types of therapy.

The actual description of DBT is quite intense and long, but because I am not an expert in this field I am adding a link to the founder's website, that of Marsha Linehan's behavioraltech.com, so to not put any incorrect information about the treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder.

The accurate description of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) according to Marsha Linehan's website is incorporated in my link above.

As of writing this post I have completed 6 months of a year long intensive program in DBT. I am a consumer of this treatment, I am not a trainer. DBT has given me nothing but hope and a realisation that for once I can actually see a way out of this illness. I am by no way cured 'yet' but like I have said I finally have HOPE.
